Sustainability ESG Lead

What is the role?  
This role in the organisation reflects the increasing importance of sustainability as the business grows. The role is responsible for developing ESG policy and implementing strategies developed through the ESG Council. The role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with ESG regulations and reporting requirements.

What are the key responsibilities?
ESG Council 
• Co-ordinate the plans & activities of Aerogen’s ESG Council, ensuring workstreams are actively pursuing the annual ESG plan.
• Consolidate workstream updates for ESG Council and onward communication.
• Facilitate the development of ESG strategy through the ESG Council

Implement Sustainability Strategy 
• Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring sustainability policies, programs and initiatives that align with Aerogen’ ESG Strategy and Vision, Mission and Values
• Conducting sustainability assessment, identifying material issues, setting goals and targets, and developing action plans and indicators.
• Establish ESG operating framework, incorporating ESG awareness and decision making into all aspects of the business. 
• Using Materiality Analysis co-ordinate Aerogen’s ESG Risk Assessment.
• Using Lifecycle Assessment co-ordinate determination of Carbon equivalent for Aerogen products.
• Using Science Based Decision Making, co-ordinate development of Aerogen’s short, medium and long term Carbon Reduction Goals.
• Through education and awareness, develop a clear plan for engaging all employees on reduction of Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions.
• Engagement with various internal and external stakeholders, such as employees, customers (distributor/OEM & Hospitals), suppliers, board of directors, regulators, and communities.
• Understand the needs, expectations and concerns of stakeholders, and communicate the Aerogen’s sustainability performance, achievements and challenges.
• Foster collaboration and dialogue among these stakeholders, and solicit feedback and input for continuous improvement. 
• Represent Aerogen in relevant networks, forums and events related to sustainability.

What education and experience are required? 
• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science or business discipline, ideally complemented with a postgraduate qualification in Sustainability.
• Min. 5 years industrial experience. 
• Min. 3 years in ESG role with responsibility for establishing and sustainability policy. 
• Experience of co-ordinating ESG initiatives and projects involving cross functional teams.
• Experience of establishing an ESG operating framework and achieving independent accreditation.
• Experience in an industrial environment would be preferred over a purely business or consulting background.

• Clear and skilled communicator in written and verbal forms. Comfortable with communicating and influencing at all levels of the organisation and with external customers; distributors, pharma and medical equipment companies. Ability to adapt the message to the particular audience.
• Strong track record in implementing sustainability policies and initiatives.
• Enthusiasm to engage and learn about unfamiliar topics of a technical and business nature.
• Proven ability to achieve on commitments through cross functional co-operation and influencing, including customers, commercial, technical & operational colleagues.
• Experienced in leading business change for sustainability.
• Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel. 
• Comfortable with data analysis
