What is the role?
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, and verification of Aerogen’s aerosol drug delivery products across Hospital, Homecare, and Emergency care settings. The position offers the opportunity to directly impact patient outcomes by developing high performance medical technologies
What are the key responsibilities?
Product Design & Development
• Design, develop, build, and test new and existing products.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles throughout product development.
• Conduct tolerance analysis and ensure robust design performance.
Technical & Project Leadership
• Lead projects and cross-functional teams through design and development activities.
• Drive technical decision-making and problem-solving.
• Demonstrate initiative while maintaining high engineering standards.
Process Development & Manufacturing
• Specify, design, and develop manufacturing and test processes.
• Support transfer to manufacturing and ongoing production improvements.
Documentation & Communication
• Document all activities in line with company procedures
• Prepare and present clear technical reports and updates.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Other activities as directed by their Manager.
What education and experience are required?
• A minimum of Level 8 degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• 4-6+ years’ relevant experience in Mechanical Design, preferably in a regulated environment.
What key skills will make you great at the role?
Technical Expertise
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drawing tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Experience in plastic part design and manufacturing processes
• Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
• Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Working knowledge of GD&T.
• Familiarity with simulation tools (FEA/CFD, e.g., ANSYS).
Testing & Validation
• Experience developing and qualifying Design Verification (DV) test methods.
Problem Solving & Execution
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Leadership & Communication
• Demonstrated technical and project leadership capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.
• Effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in line with business needs.
• High level of personal accountability and attention to detail.
