As we enter Year 3 of our partnership with the Society of St
Vincent de Paul (SVP), we wanted to take the opportunity to share how funding
from Aerogen’s Pledge 1% commitment has been used to date and the impact it
continues to make in our communities.
Supporting education through the SVP Education Bursary
Aerogen’s education bursary supports SVP in helping third-level STEM students overcome financial barriers to education. In 2024 and 2025, four STEM students attending Atlantic Technological University (ATU) each received €1,500 per year from Aerogen. This funding helps cover essential costs such as course fees, books and materials, travel expenses, and other costs that can make higher education feel out of reach.
The students are now in their second year of study, having successfully completed first year with excellent results achieving grades ranging from the high 70s to the 90s. For these students, who have additional needs beyond general living costs, this support is vital. Without it, continuing their education would likely not be possible.
In 2026, each student will receive a further €1,500 to support them through their third year of studies. SVP’s Education and Training Bursary Fund is ongoing, with thousands of requests for educational support received each year. By contributing to this fund, Aerogen is helping to create long-term impact supporting students to build brighter futures and helping to break the cycle of poverty through education.
Croí na Gaillimhe Homework Club
Aerogen’s support has also made a meaningful difference to Croí na Gaillimhe, particularly through its Homework Club for children and families living in Direct Provision.
Funding has helped provide essential educational materials, including books, stationery, and learning aids. The Homework Club continues to grow, with nearly 40 children now attending and seven active volunteers supporting them.
The impact is clear to see the children arrive after school full of enthusiasm, proudly carrying their school bags and eager to get started. The Homework Club provides not only academic support, but also a welcoming, supportive environment where children can build confidence and routine.
Future funding from Aerogen could further enhance the Homework Club by supporting:
- Training and upskilling for tutors and volunteers
- Extracurricular activities, including creative, sporting, or wellbeing-focused programmes
- Mental and emotional wellbeing supports, recognising the unique challenges faced by children and families living in Direct Provision
