What is the role?
The Commercial Excellence Director is responsible for managing enablement of the commercial organization through system and tool enablement, training & education, tool development, data management, analytics and insights, as well as supporting operational needs to drive enablement and excellence at all levels of the commercial organization.
What are the key responsibilities?
• Leading and developing Sr. Commercial Excellence Manager, Sr. Commercial Excellence Training & Education Manager and supporting team members.
• Determine internal and external stakeholder needs through assessment, surveys, focus groups as well as other methods to determine stakeholder needs. Identify and develop optimization and change management plan to identify and resolve barriers to utilization of commercial excellence levers.
• Sales Model: Enable sales methodology through execution and ongoing training and education.
• Sales training programs: Lead employee onboarding, and ongoing/annual sales training.
• Direct and Create training resources: partner with Marketing and other SME’s to create training content
• Train the Trainers: create champion programs to drive PULSE utilization as well as drive key initiatives throughout the organization.
• Sales Enablement Tools: Responsible for end-to-end implementation and optimization of various sales enablement tools.
• Lead the Data and Analytics function to enable full commercial execution.
• Work closely with the Global Commercial Excellence team to execute a shared strategy.
• Design and build commercial enablement tools to support commercial growth.
• Develop, mentor and manage team by establishing and executing individual MBOs aligned with Corporate and Management objectives.
• Drive and support sales growth within the distributor, outside, and corporate accounts segments through enablement.
• Working with Global Sales enablement, Support marketing and clinical education as well as launch of new products, executing according to marketing guidelines, in combination with objectives.
• Enable and support, marketing enablement through collaboration with Global Sales enablement to Build campaigns to qualify and validate marketing generated leads to accelerate sales cycle.
• Establish a formal commercial-excellence governance process for internal customers and cross functional partners.
• Lead project management and change management for CRM and commercial-tool initiatives.
• Direct commercial analytics, insight generation, and executive reporting across Sales, Marketing, Market Access, and enterprise-account activity.
• Partner with Sales Leadership, Finance, HR, and Operations to govern sales-compensation and commission design inputs.
• Act as an influential leader within the sales leadership team.
• Complete other misc. duties as assigned.
What education and experience are required?
• Bachelor’s degree with a strong business background
• Previous Training & Education experience with familiarity in latest training processes and tools
• CRM/LMS experience
• Strong people leader, with people management experience
• MS Office skills, Salesforce, LMS, & Marketing systems
• 5–7 years of relevant medical device sales experience
• 3+ years of People Management required
• Experience working with distributors is preferred
• Proven track record of consistently overperforming and exceeding targets
• One year of previous Inside Sales experience
• Instructional design certificate a plus
• Experience in respiratory therapeutic area and acute care hospital setting
• Experience working with a range of internal stakeholders locally and globally, including sales, marketing and operations, analytics and more
• Ability to work with recruiters and HR to build a strong and diversely talented team
• Ability to travel at least 30% of the time, both domestic and international.
• This role is based in Aerogen North America, Chicago location preferred.
