What is the role?
The AI Solutions Engineer designs, builds, and takes ongoing ownership of AI systems used across the business - from initial proof of concept through to deployed, production, supported solutions. Each of these systems operates within Aerogen's regulated environment, carrying validation, traceability, and data-integrity obligations that sit outside a standard development or analytics scope. The successful candidate combines applied engineering with end-to-end delivery responsibility, translating business and regulatory requirements into working systems and owning their reliability, compliance, and support once live.
What are the key responsibilities?
• Design, build, and own AI-driven proof-of-concept and production systems across the business.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to gather and analyse requirements, and translate business problems into scoped, technically sound AI solutions.
• Take solutions from proof of concept through to validated, deployed, and supported production systems, owning the full delivery lifecycle rather than handing off at build.
• Maintain data integrity, security, and access controls across all AI systems, in line with the requirements of a regulated environment.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain production AI systems, managing updates, incidents, and change control through appropriate, controlled processes.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools, platforms, and techniques, running proofof-concepts to assess feasibility, risk, and business value before recommending wider rollout.
• Document system design, validation evidence, and support procedures, and provide training and support to end users and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Quality, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure AI systems meet regulatory, security, and business requirements across their full lifecycle.
What education and experience are required?
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience designing, building, and deploying software or AI-driven solutions, ideally including ownership of production systems.
• Experience working within a regulated environment with a working understanding of validation, traceability, and data-integrity requirements.
• Demonstrated experience taking solutions from proof of concept through to deployed, supported production systems, not just prototyping.
• Relevant certifications (e.g. GAMP 5, AI-900/AI-102, or equivalent cloud/software engineering certifications) are an advantage.
What key skills will make you great at the role?
• Strong applied engineering skills, able to design, build, and maintain AIdriven systems end to end.
• Practical experience applying generative AI and AI/ML tools and techniques to real, production business systems, not just prototyping.
• Development and scripting ability (e.g. Python) and experience with Power Platform or comparable tools for building, integrating, and automating solutions.
• Experience owning production systems, including monitoring, incident management, change control working closely with IT Operations.
• Strong analytical skills, able to translate business and regulatory requirements into scoped, deliverable technical solutions.
• Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance principles within a regulated business environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work effectively across business, IT, and Quality functions.
• Proven ability to work independently, owning solutions across their full lifecycle from requirements through to deployed, supported system.
• Experience delivering and supporting systems within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device, pharmaceutical, or equivalent), with a practical understanding of production processes and the operational consequences of system failure on a live line.
• In-house LLM design and architecture as well as deploying and operating self-hosted models where data sovereignty prevents thirdparty AI services being used.
• Experience within Azure, SSO and Security best practices within governed Microsoft environments.
• Demonstrated experience designing and testing backup and disasterrecovery arrangements, including restore validation and the dataretention expectations of a regulated environment.
