What is the role?
An exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Aerogen R&D Team. This position is responsible for designing, developing and testing electromechanical, metallurgical & polymeric products. The successful candidate will undertake specifying/designing, developing and testing the equipment and processes to manufacture and test these products. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be required to document these activities in line with the company's product and process development procedures.
What are the key responsibilities?
• As part of the Mechanical Design Engineering team, working on new and existing product design & development projects.
• Support project teams in general activities related to ongoing product design & development.
• Design, development, build and testing of products.
• Specifying/designing, developing and testing the equipment and processes to manufacture and test these products.
• Document project activities in line with the company's product and process development procedures.
• Effective liaison with, and support of, other in-house departments as necessary.
What education and experience are required?
• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering role or equivalent.
What key skills will make you great at the role?
• Excellent communication skills including the ability to write and present concise technical reports.
• Enjoys understanding technical problems and driven to find optimum solutions.
• Ability to work as part of a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team with excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Strong presentation skills and has an ability to portray concepts concisely.
• Advanced capabilities with 3D Modelling & 2D Drawing software such as Solidworks.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Expertise in multi-component tolerance analysis.
• Proven experience in Plastic Part Design.
• Experience developing Design Verification Test methods and qualifying same.
• Knowledge of CFD & FEA Simulation software such as Ansys.
• Experience in the Medical Device area would be an advantage.
